Buddy Bohn - A Drop In The Ocean

(Capitol SMA 878) - Released 1972

Buddy was a US singer songwriter who has made a number of recordings over the years under the name Buddy Bohn and also under his middle name, "Moro". For his third LP he hooked up with Jerry Lordan in the UK. Jerry brought Buddy down to Bob Potter's studio in Mytchett to record some demo tracks in preparation for sessions in George Martin's Air studios.

The Onyx were brought in to provide back-up for Buddy and a number of tracks were laid down. Recorded by Dave West these tracks would later be re-cut at Air under the guise of Jerry, along with a large orchestra as backing.

Buddy wasn't comfortable in the surroundings of Air, preferring the more intimate studio at Bob's and as a result decided to make use of the some of the earlier recordings. The resulting LP includes tracks from both sessions, with the orchestrated songs coming out of Air and the others from the Onyx sessions. "Cockroach", "Sad Lady" and "Summer Song" are credited on the LP as being arranged by The Onyx.
